    Allow Yourself to Take

A common occurrence in life is getting in our own way! We don’t allow ourselves “to take,” both personally and professionally. We don’t ask out that guy or girl we’ve been crushing on for ages. We tell ourselves we don’t deserve that job promotion. We don’t go after the career we want or hang out with the people who inspire us. We let our minds say no instead of yes, and unhappiness results.

    It Doesn’t Hurt

It doesn’t hurt anyone to know what we want and to take it! It’s essential to get over the idea that taking is hurtful, as people tend to respect others who know what they want and go after it. Stop thinking negatively about taking, and know you’ll serve as an inspiration to others when you go for what you want in life. It’s also important to stop caring about what other people think concerning the taking of what we want–spending time mulling over how others see us is a waste of time, and prevents us from doing what we need to do. Letting go of what others think is paramount to going after our goals.

As with letting go of what other people think of our dreams and goals, it’s important to focus on ourselves. While this doesn’t mean we have to stop caring about the people closest to us, we do need to put our proverbial houses in order first. Focusing on the self isn’t selfish as some believe, but a testament to our worth and that we deserve to obtain what we want from this life. Spend time focusing on what you want in your professional and personal life, and set about getting it. There’s nothing wrong with finding out what we want–the sooner we do this and make ourselves happy, the sooner we can start giving back and inspiring those around us.

    Remembering We’re Worth It

Taking what we want from life and enjoying the happiness that follows is something all of us deserve, no matter who we are or where we’re from. We have to change our mindset and remember we are, in fact, worth it. Worthy of what we want, worthy of love, worthy of happiness. Changing our minds to positive thought patterns that tell us we deserve what we want and what we already have is not necessarily an overnight process, however it’s one that can enrich our lives tenfold.
